One of the tournaments in the world with the richest tradition Reggio Emilia was held for the 50th time. Hungarian Gradnmaster Zoltan Almasi won the event. You can find out all the games played until round 9 at the link below.


The second Obert Obert Internacional de les Illes Medes was held from December 28 2007 to January 4 2008. You can find out how GM Lopez Martinez won the event while last year's winner GM Mateusz Bartel's active schedule including a blitz event.

Another news of an open tournament is from France, Vandeuvre a town located near Lorraine with more than 100 players from 11 different countries according to Chessdom. IM Haub won the event with 7 points in 9 rounds.

Almasi won 50th Edition of Reggio Emilia 


Hungarian grandmaster Zoltan Almasi won the fiftieth edition of the Reggio Emilia Tournament after drawing against Korchnoi  and reaching 6 points at the end while Gashimov, Harikrishna and Hua shared the 2-4.places with 5.5 points.

1. Almasi 6 2-4. Gashimov, Harikrishna, Hua  5.5 5. Landa 4.5 6-7. Navara, Korchnoi 4 8-9. Tiviakov, Marin 3.5 10.Godena 3

Obert Internacional de les Illes Medes

The second Obert Obert Internacional de les Illes Medes open tournament took place from December 28 2007 to January 4 2008. GM Lopez Martinez Josep Manuel won the Group A event with 7.5 points ahead of GM Aroshidze, IM Czakon and GM Narciso. The New Year's blitz event was won by Polish grandmaster Mateusz Bartel, the last year's winner of the Group A. Furthermore, Bartel also hosted a simul.

IM Haub Wins 4th Vandeouvre Open

4th Vandeouvre Open was held between 26-30 December 2007 with numerous international players.  IM Haub won the event with 7 points in 9 rounds. GM Christian Bauer rated 2634 was the top seed of the event and World Under 20 Champion Vera Nebolisna also gave a simultaneous exhibition with giving away 3 draws out of 20 games.
